    Default HDTV worth it?

Well I'm still not on the HDTV bandwagon. I'm guessing I will be by the time the PS4 rolls around, but I'm wondering from anyone who already games on a HDTV how big a difference it truly makes?

I have friends with HDTV's, and honestly I haven't really noticed that huge a difference in picture quality. And of course, being an old school gamer, graphics (and by extension TV picture quality) have never been a massive concern to me. That said, I would like to upgrade soon, and would be interested in hearing what others think of HDTV's, and any particular models they think are good (probably in the 42" range).

I don't notice a huge difference but in a few games it definitley adds to the effect. I find the scenary/background to be far more visual on the HDTV, well worth it imo.

It definitely makes a huge difference. One of the most common problems on SDTV's is that a lot of current games have incredibly small text on them, making it very difficult to read. Even on the biggest SDTV's this can be a problem. You used to hear about it a lot during the PS3 and 360's launch but not so much now that everyone has migrated to HDTV.

Also, on regular televisions a lot the detail in the graphics evaporates, leaving you with blurry, muddled graphics. Sure, it still is a step over the PlayStation 2, but you can not fully appreciate the graphics of the PS3 on a standard definition television.

HDTVs are much cheaper than they were a few years ago so I would definitely upgrade as soon as you get the chance. The jump in graphic quality will almost be like buying a whole new system!

I would have to agree, I had an old Projection big screen tv, and the texts on the game were really small and fuzzy(well kinda) the HD picture made everything smooth and colorful, almost like it ironed out the wrinkles off the old tv, when you play games like uncharted, killzone, skyrim, you notice the small stuff like scenery, faces, texts, just an impressive overall experience, but check it out yourself, prices have dropped and more deals are here for the holidays
    Keep on truckin

Definitely a lot of deals around the holidays. It doesn't even have to be a television either -- something like a decent sized monitor will only set you back about $200 and many monitors support HDMI, allowing you to get beautiful high-definition graphics with your PS3. I would say you're really missing out if you get a PS3 but use a standard definition television and I imagine that will be even more true with the PS4 now that HDTVs and their equivalents are pretty much common place. A lot of retailers don't even sell regular televisions anymore!
