2015 is the of the release of the ps4
it will be released in 2013
look at how long the time span was between the PS2 and PS3. I really dont want it to come out soon due to the fact that many great games are coming up to be released on the PS3 console and that wouldn't necessarily ruin the game play but it would take away from it quite a lot. So I'm only hoping that the "PS4" isn't released for another couple years. The greatness of the PS3 has only began!
Well. I would like to contradict myself from my earlier words. I think 2013 is the ideal window for Sony to launch. Why? well. One thing I never took a look at before was when was Power8 going to come about. Also with NVIDIA Kelper coming in 2012. It makes 2013 ideal for Sony to take on one of the Kelper GPUs. Typically their is a 1 year mark before its put into the console. This fits perfectly. Makes 2013/2014 ideal for Sony. PowerVR though I believe is still an option for GPU with OpenRL. They would have to make a Desktop level GPU to be considered. There are words they might reenter desktop market in 2012.
I don't know if any of yall remember IBM saying that future Cell technology would be a part of the Power series instead of two separate lines. I believe they said this in 2010 right after Power7 was completed. Their plan for Power series is one every 3 years + variant 18 months after launch. Now Power7+ is coming in 2012 and Power8 series is debuting in 2013.
Differences in Power series? Power 7 vs. Power7+
Power7 is 45 nm supports 4, 6, 8 cores. (3.0 Ghz - 4.25 Ghz) 4 SMT threads per core. Power7+ is 32 nm. Higher clocks and supports same number of cores and SMT threads. Maybe more memory.
Power8 is 22 nm. Rumors of up to 16 cores. Likely 10, 12, 14?, 16. New generation of SMT threads so more than 4 per core?
It will be 16 ~ 32cores!
I ha a ps3 for 4 years I'm ready for a ps4. If it comes last there's nothing wrong with an xbox720(if it's better cooling)
